Match Report 2004/5 season Meadhurst Vets vs Teddington - Draw 2-2
(HT 1-1) Sunday 7th November Home Sillyy really we were on top for the whole game but let them off with a draw. Andy Keywood's cross hit Dene's head for the first goal and Brian Smith thumped Jack's lay off into the top corner for the second. Good efforts fron Fozzy (!) and Jack (!) were met by equally good saves and the post and cross bar took a bashing too but all to no avail.
2003/4 season Meadhurst Vets vs Teddington - a 3 - 0 loss
Oh dear
After a bad spell in the last century Meadhurst
have consistently edged this fixture. Not by much and with the occasional
draw thrown in but usually we have done enough. Not this time. True we were
lacking 4 or 5 of our more talented players and Teddington have one very skilful
(but old) player who always causes problems but ....
This time we just didn't compete as well as they
did. Our defence did well against some energetic forwards and they scored
some goals that owed as much to us as them (Cuzzy's own goal wasn't actually
the worse example). The depressing thing was that we couldn't put much
together when we had the ball. With Jack as stand in keeper we were
fortunate to end the first half 1-0 down and we started the second half with
a good spell that saw efforts from Driscol and Harlow deserve some reward.
However a few mistakes against the run of play saw Teddington 2-0 up
and we were never really back in it. Mark Beach provided the best moment of
the game - challenged closely by the opp with his back to our goal (and
despairing of controlling the ball on what passes for a Meadhurst
football pitch) he opted instead to keep the ball up 5-6 times on knee
thigh and boot before back heeling on the volley through the oppo's legs to
Ken. Ken was almost taken unawares as like everyone else he was busy
watching and thinking of breaking into applause.
They were delighted with their first win against
us in 7 years (nice to make someone happy) but a bit bemused that they had
got it so easily.
A curious weekend all in all, a total eclipse of
the moon was overshadowed by Meadhurst Club apologising for providing such
bad value for last week's food (the famous £1 each badly roasted spud) and
Spurs outplaying Arsenal and losing (nomally Spurs get rather more than they
desreve from this fixture)
Spellthorne next week
2002/3 result a 5-5 draw A 5-5 draw against Teddington left both teams bemused. Meadhurst can count themselves unlucky to surrender a two goal lead 3 times but Teddington didn't deserve to lose.
Report for 2001/2 Sunday 11th November Teddington at Home 10 am meet for a 10:30 KO
Finally back to winning ways with a 3-1
victory over Teddington last week. Goals from Don (his first of the season)
and Dave (2 and a missed penalty)
But we were poor for the first 15 mins and went
1-0 down before getting into the game. Curious as we were all out
warming up for 15 mins before the game started - must have got tired I guess
There were complaints from the pigeons, squirrels
and The Men of the Trees about the Dick's and Gary's shots in the second half
- again
