Match Report Meadhurst Vets Home vs
Shepperton Green 3-0 win A full sqaud on paper again and they all
turned up too. The opposition were late however and continued this theme with
their tackling as they tried to stay with a spritely Meadhurst team. Goals duely
arrived as Brian Smith converted as Dogga headed a cross back across the goal
and Dogga headed in a well stuck freekick from Andy. Cuzzy completed the scoring
with a headed corner. Fortunately for Shepperton Dave Ferguson had picked up an
injury but nevertheless it looked like it would be a long second half for them. Curiously Meadhurst failed to score again
despite dominating the second half. The keeper saved well from Dogga, Nipper
Fozzy and Jack and had to fetch the ball from the trees several times as Joey
also tried his luck.. A good outing despite being played on the
rugby pitch (Cuzzy kindly let the Sunday side have the first team pitch).
Actually the pitch played quite well and would be usable again. Meadhurst vs Sheperton Green 2003/4 season A 3-3 draw which was probably the least likely result imaginable for the spectators. Meadhurst were 2-0 down at half time having missed at least 8 chances from an aggregate distance of 12 yards. The Sheperton forwards were useful and playing a 3-4-3 formation we expect to leak a goal or two. Equally we expect to score 3 or 4. Of course the theory doesn't take into account Dene's run of form that has seen him get into great positions to achieve astonishing misses. A more conventional 4-4-2 formation saw Meadhurst slowly assert some control in the second half bringing the score back to 2-1 with a Dave Ferguson header. Irritatingly Sheperton broke and scored against the run of play to make it 3-1. Meadhurst were not to be denyed however as Dick Brockwell converted a corner from close range. A good job it was close range overwise a thumping shot would have sailed over the bar. When Tony Barber made it three from a Paul Lucas cross Meadhurst looked set to win and indeed hit the bar and the post twice as Tony Barber emulated Dene's ability to get into a good position but fail to score. Neither team played well as both midfields struggled to get on top of the difficult pitch and in Meadhurst's case injuries to Petch, Lucas, Driscol and Frost. A week's break has probably come just in time.
The October 2002 match An 8-1 win for Meadhurst in the now regular October storm The team that turned up was Dave
Ferguson 4 goals Robin Lewis was injured trying to catch his fence as it blew away Keywood tweaked his leg muscle on Saturday night Dene came down with lurgi on Sunday morning Tony Barber was trapped in Dorset by the storm and Paul Lucas took the King's shilling from the the Sunday first team They turned up with 10 men and left the defense one on one with Dave Ferguson ..... not a good plan
Team for Sunday 28th Oct 2001 vs Shepperton Green at Home a 2-2 draw with goals from Neil McKinnell and Gary Seaforth They were a lot better than last year albeit with some youngsters
Jack PS Man U are nearly below Spurs -
Ferguson has delusions of tactical ability Bobby Charlton for manager ...... quick
