Meadhurst Club disappoint Vets again

Jack Frost reports on the cancellation of the Annual Chairman's fixture
due to a double booking of the pitch by Meadhurst Club Officials.
......Another week without football. If its not acts of God its Meadhurst
Club incompetence. Given the cancellation of the previous 3 games due
to waterlogged pitches the news that the ground was fit to play was
received with unbounded joy by the team (if not all the wives). But joy
was shortlived as news of the double booking filtered through.
Never in the many years of Vets football at Meadhurst has this fixture
been called off and to lose it for such a poor reason is profoundly
disappointing.
I was asked if I'd forgotten what a football looked like but the
questioner failed to understand that senility only affects short term
memory. This, of course, is why so many of us keep turning out despite
being well past our "best before date".
The next opportunity is 31st December, Old Hamptonians Away.
